Great Pacific Mortgage & Investments has been helping BC residents borrow smarter and invest with confidence since 1999. We’re a mortgage brokerage, a private lender, and a fund manager — all under one roof, all run by a team that’s been in this market long enough to know it well.

Great Pacific was founded in 1994 with a straightforward idea: people in BC deserved better mortgage and investment advice than they were getting. Not more complicated, just better. More honest, more tailored, and from people who actually knew the market they were lending in.
What made the firm a standout from the start was its dual focus. Most brokerages arrange mortgages or manage investments. Great Pacific did both, and added private lending on top. Clients stopped needing three different firms for three different problems. And because the team was working across all three, they developed a perspective on BC real estate that few firms could match, seeing the market from every angle at once.
More than 30 years later, and after Damian joined in 2015, not much has changed about the approach. The firm is still locally owned and operated. Walt and Damian are still involved day-to-day. The team they’ve built around them shares the same belief they started with: that the best financial advice is specific, transparent, and genuinely in the client’s interest. That sounds simple. It’s actually pretty rare.

Walt has been arranging mortgages and managing investments in BC since 1994. He founded Great Pacific because he saw a gap between what clients actually needed and what the big firms were set up to offer, and decided the most useful thing he could do was fill it himself. Three decades later, he’s still involved in every part of the business.
Damian Sowa — Managing Director & Mortgage Broker
Damian has been working across mortgage brokerage and real estate finance since 1994. His focus has always been on finding solutions that hold up in practice, not just ones that look clean on paper. If your situation is complicated, he’s probably navigated something close to it before.
Behind Walt and Damian is a team that handles everything from application processing to investor relations. Small by design, experienced by choice, and together long enough that nothing coming through the door is likely to be new to them.
